"The Role of System z in the World
of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence"

Beth Hamel is an IBM Senior Technical Staff Member and is currently the worldwide
product manager for Data Warehouse on System z. Beth has held jobs in IMS, DB2,
database replication and performance and has consulted with hundreds of customers
worldwide.

The Role of System z in the World of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence:
Growing demand for access to near real-time data and the need to access operational data
sources are driving changes in our customers’ data warehousing processes. Businesses who
have long run their core application processes (and stored much of their enterprise data) on
z/OS are looking to maximize their investment and improve their overall TCO by expanding
the role of their mainframes to take on more of their enterprise’s WH/BI needs. System z’s
exceptional reliability, availability and security—coupled with the addition of extensive
warehouse related capabilities in DB2 V8 and V9—have strengthened its position as a
warehouse platform. This session will provide an overview that answers the questions of
why z?, when z? and what is available on z? to leverage this platform and database in
warehouse and BI solutions.

Seating is limited, please RSVP for this event at www.db2seattle.org or email barbara.lidstrom@gmail.com
by Thursday, May 8.  Additional info can be found here.
